A Little Sparkly . . .

pink moscatoOh my gosh – this is so good. Amie came down last weekend and I knew she liked Moscato (wine) so I went to the liquor store to get a bottle.  I always feel guilty going into the liquor store – LOL – like I shouldn’t be in there.  Anywhoooo, I found this Pink Moscato and anything “pink” is always better, right!!?? I was surprised it was only $7 a bottle and it’s just like the label says – a little sweet & a little sparkly (well, i guess it actually says a little fizzy)!! Pink & Sparkly . . . everything a girl could want!! LOL

Beginning My Quest . . .

houseSoooo the cowboy search is taking a backseat to my farmhouse search (still searching Christian Mingle though).  I found this house for sale about 40 min. north of me. Soooo cute, built in 1915, actually smaller inside than it looks and it’s on 1/2 acre.  I’m afraid it needs a bit more work $$$ than I’m willing to put into it, but sooooo cute right!!!!

It’s here . . .

cabWe (well some of us) are sooooo excited that we finally got our own Cabela’s!!! Not just one but 2!! They opened yesterday and people spent the night in line waiting to be the one of the firsts to get in – I’m not THAT crazy. One opened up right here in Thornton, just off the main Interstate – I25.  Maybe I’ll finally find my pink camo hat!!!! Yes, I am THAT crazy! LOL

“The Power of Vulnerability”

Standard

Dr. Brene Brown was one of the speakers last week at the conference I attended. She’s originally from Texas and what a hoot!! She’s spent the past ten years studying vulnerability, courage, authenticity, and shame.  Her talk was insightful and touching.  I personally have struggled with being “vulnerable” whether in love or just asking for help.  I have experienced being in love and being 100% vulnerable in it.  What a freedom it gives you . . . taking the risk that it might not work out but still giving it 100% is a feeling that leaves you with no regrets.  The asking for help part . . . last year when I went through my breast cancer . . . it brought me to my knees.  My life was tidy and put together and then it wasn’t.  Asking for help became a bit easier for me, even when I was just asking for prayer. Being vulnerable sucks, for me, it’s not my first choice, LOL.  Sometimes even writing this blog  makes me feel vulnerable . . . but I have learned to become more comfortable with it. I’ve downloaded Brene Brown’s book “Daring Greatly” to my iPad and have just begun reading it.  It’s great and I would totally recommend it.  I’m including this link to one of her TED.com talks . . . take the time to listen to it, just 20 minutes of your time, and let me know if it makes an impact on you! Enjoy!!

Collin Powell

Standard

collinLast week (Thursday & Friday) I was at a Leadership Conference in Loveland, Colorado.  Every year a church out of Chicago, called “Willowcreek” hosts what they call “The Global Leadership Summit” live via satellite across the world.  The conference is for church and business leaders and they have some great speakers.  Bill Hybels is the founder & Senior Pastor at Willowcreek.  He is an author, great speaker – so funny and relevant.  One of the speakers was Collin Powell, very impressive and I was so surprised at what a sense of humor he had. More tomorrow on another speaker that I loved, Brene Brown . . .

Farmhouse? Cowboy? Hmmmmm . . .

Standard

So as most of you know I’m single and if you know me wellllllll you know that for sometime now I’ve been looking for a cowboy, or a farmer, or a rancher, or any combination (seriously I’m totally flexible – LOL).  I’m realizing the “pool” of single “country men” seems to be few and far between, especially locally. So I’ve been rethinking this whole living in the country thing . . . I just mean why don’t I forgo the cowboy and go straight for my own farmhouse??? I don’t mean acres and acres of farmland, just a farmhouse.  Welllll I’ve been checking “Craigslist” and “Realtor.com” and I’m finding a pattern here . . . . I’ve found that my search for “my” perfect farmhouse and “my” perfect cowboy have some similarities:

1st – Look at the photo (house & cowboy)???

2nd – Where are you located:   In State or Out of State . . . (house & cowboy)

3rd – Farmhouse (sq. feet?) – Cowboy (height)

4th – How old are you (house & cowboy)???

Hmmmmm would be much easier to find both in the same place, RIGHT?!?!?!

P.S. The pics are from Pinterest – but if anybody recognizes the guy on the horse – be sure to let me know – LOL

My Latest Find @ HG . .

20130803-145613.jpgWe are “basically” done with the re-do at Pat’s house!!!!  Still have to take pics though . . . Pat & her husband live about 30 minutes south of me which is not exactly around the corner . . . . so I’ll take pics the next time I go back to work on her hutch.   Her hutch is beautiful but very dark so I’m lining the back of it with wrapping paper to brighten it up!!  Once that’s done I can take pics and post!! Soooooo anywhoooo while Pat and I were shopping for her re-do @ Home Goods, we came across this fabulous Owl pic and decided, hey, this would look great in “my” house!!  I’m a bit obsessed with owls.  Love it, don’t you!?!?!?

Shortcakes

Standard

shortcakeFresh berries are in season and there is nothing like berries & shortcake!  I am an absolute fan of the shortcake recipe on the “Bisquick” box.  They are soft and cakey on the inside with just a bit of crunch on the outside. Fresh berries, a little sugar and some whipping creme – yummmmmmmmmmmmmm!!  Make some this weekend!! (I usually just half this recipe for myself, makes 2 large shortcakes). Andddd yes, that is one of my cute bowls from Homegoods!! LOL

Bisquick Shortcakes

2 1/3 cups Original Bisquick® mix
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
Sweetened sliced berries & whipping cream

Heat oven to 425 degrees.  Mix bisquick, milk, sugar & butter together – I use a fork.  Drop by tablespoon & bake for about 10 minutes.
