Ryobi Level & My Closet

Standard

Amie & Matthew bought this for me for Christmas.  I love it!!  It makes my life so much easier when I’m trying to hang something on my wall that requires level nail holes.  Because my house was built in 1958 there is no texture on the walls which is good and bad.  Good = easier for painting & Bad = shows every imperfection.  However, this “Ryobi Airgrip Laser Level” works perfectly on my non-textured walls!  It works on a couple of AA batteries and you just put it up against the wall & turn it on . . . it has an electric suction thing that sucks it right to the wall.  The laser then shoots across the wall making every nail hole perfectly level with the other.  Love this thing! http://tinyurl.com/mahqbjm

I found this mirror clearanced at Hobby Lobby for $25 and it hung on one nail.  The shelf, however, required two nails so my Ryobi level to the rescue!  I also found the shelf at Hobby Lobby it was $10 which was 50% off – always wait for the sale, lol. I actually spray painted it – it was brown metal before.

Love my little mirror & jewelry corner.

It’s perfect for holding my everyday stuff.

Sweet little plant (fake) I found at “The Barn” in Castle Rock.

Sweet little “Willow Tree” figure my mom gave me when I had breast cancer surgery 5 years ago. Thanks mom!

James Wesley Weaver

One on my dad’s brothers passed away a couple weeks ago,Uncle James.  He was always around when we were growing up.  I was in California over this last weekend for his funeral.  It’s “soul refreshing” when you have a chance to be around family!  We were either crying or laughing the whole weekend (and totally stayed up wayyyyy too late chatting!)

Napoli’s Pizza!!!  I’m telling you this is the best pizza and salad on the planet!!  My sister (Angel) & her family took me there Thursday night and I cannotttttt wait to go back!

And this is how “Hotel de Palmer” rolls for brunch!  My brother Randy just started working at Domain Carneros and we found out Lyndon & Marsha have been members there for over 15 years!

My cousin Marsha and her hubby Lyndon (Lyndy baby, better known as Chef-boy-r-dee!)

My brother Randy & Sally

My oldest nephew Jeff & his youngest Kaelynn (my brother’s son)

My youngest nephew Ryan and his youngest Olivia (my brother’s son)

My oldest niece Kendalynn (my sister’s daughter).  I didn’t get pics of my two other nieces, Katie & Khloe OR my little cutie pie Great-Niece Acelynn!

WOW Me Wednesday

Standard

We have a new “Kneaders” in town and I’m in love with their “Chicken Salad”.  I usually make my chicken salad a little sweet with grapes and walnuts.  Their’s is a little more savory.  I found this recipe on Pinterest but it didn’t include water chestnuts and dill which is in Kneaders Chicken Salad.  When I make this again, I’ll half this recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • salt (to taste)
  • pepper (to taste)
  • 1-1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1-1/4 cup sour cream
  • 4 stocks celery, chopped
  • 1 bunch green onion, chopped
  • (I added 1/2 teaspoon of dill & about 1/2 can of chopped water chestnuts)
  • 4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts; cooked and shredded (I used two of those large cans of cooked chicken from Sam’s Club)
  • 6-8 rolls or bread of choice (depending on your bread choice – I think it made more than this, like 12 sandwiches) (I would recommend croissants)

Instructions

  1. Mix vinegar, salt, pepper, dill, mayonnaise and sour cream together.
  2. Mix celery, green onion, chicken and water chestnuts in separate bowl.
  3. Mix all ingredients together.
  4. Let set overnight or for a few hours for the best flavor.

YUMMMMMM – here’s the link that I found (just remember to add the dill & water chestnuts): http://tinyurl.com/lbnuzcs

Finished Floor & Easter Decor

Standard

I finished my flooring & step on Friday!! Just need to add the baseboards.

Stair came out pretty good.  The other step up is into the kitchen – no updates there yet.

I bought this 3 tier iron shelf thing a couple years ago at Home Goods, specifically for the dinning room.  It’s been in my front room & now finally in the dinning room.

And my little piggies finally have a home . . . .

Easter Projects & Grandkids

Standard

Owen had his Spring Break from school a couple of week ago so I took a day off from work and had my grandkids over for some Easter projects!  First we made Easter Bunny pots from clay pots,  a little paint, some felt for ears and some googley eyes.

Owen is too cool for school and Belle is screaming “cheeeeeseeeeee”!

Then we made some Bunny Race Cars out of Twinkies, mini cookies, yogurt covered pretzels & Peeps!

Belle concentrating!

Had so much F.U.N. with these two!! (Both project ideas courtesy of . . . . yes, Pinterest!)

Flooring Almost Done!

Standard

I spent the better part of this weekend working on the flooring in my dinning room.  I love it and still need to finish a bit more on the step.  Taking a break for now – I can hardly walk my thighs are burning so bad!!!! LOL

Flooring Arrived

Standard

I’ve finally pulled the trigger on flooring for my dinning room floor.  I ordered this through Home Depot and it’s called Rustic Grey Oak http://tinyurl.com/meekeo3 . It’s done it’s time acclimating soooooooo looks like I’m working on flooring Saturday!

This is the dinning room wall that I’ve also put off doing.  I just can’t decide on what wall treatment to do, so I just painted it for now.

I do love my “Melted Butter by Behr” paint color!  Now onto flooring.

Last Phase – Wine Update

Standard

Looks like a surgical table, lol.   It’s time to add the clarifying stuff.  We used the tubing to transfer the wine from the carboy to the bucket.

But FIRST, time to taste!  And let me just say – it is stinkin’ yummy!  So smooth and a bit fruity.

This is the degassing tool attached to a drill.  After adding the clarifying stuff (which all comes in your wine kit) it’s time to beat it.

Carbon dioxide is left in the wine after fermentation. If you don’t “degas” your wine it can end up being carbonated, it won’t clarify properly and it can increase the sensation of acidity.  So whip it, whip it good! LOL (can’t help myself)   We siphoned  the wine back into the carboy for another couple of weeks and then it’s time to BOTTLE!!!!! Yahoo
