Wow Me Wednesday


Homemade Marinara!  I was going through some stuff last weekend and came across this recipe that I had written down on a note pad and decided to give it a try.  Turned out pretty yummy and ANY excuse to use my immersion blender works for me! 😉

1 small diced onion
3 cloves minced garlic
2 large cans crushed tomatoes
1 cup red wine
2 teaspoons sugar
salt & pepper
Saute onion & garlic with a little olive oil.  Add wine & simmer about 20 minutes.  Add tomatoes, salt & pepper.  Simmer at least 30 min.  I prefer “smooth” marinara so I pulled out the immersion blender!  Yummmm
This made almost 2 quarts (mason jars).  I put one in the freezer and one in the fridge.  If you store it in the fridge upside down it will help prevent mold collecting on the lid (pinterest tip).
