Wedding Projects

Standard

So we’re coming down to the wire! 19 days til Amie & Matthew’s wedding!!  Over the weekend I worked on a few wedding projects – no contractors this weekend.  Amie & Matthew wanted mason jars for their toasting glasses, Matthew said “no way, I’m drinking out of those tiny, girly champagne glasses”, LOL.  I found these (at least 16oz) mugs at “Hobby Lobby”.  Bought some twine and frilly trim.  The mustache and lips are wood cut outs I picked up at “Michaels” months ago, wasn’t sure how I would use them but had to have them – too cute.  I used “Mod Podge” to put the twine & frilly trim on the glass, then spray painted the wood tags and used rub-on letters.  I think they turned out pretty cute! 😉

Sooooo Excited!!!

When I came home from the “Springs” this weekend, I came home to this!!  Wholly toledo!!  The outside was covered in plywood, my windows and door are in, the interior walls are in AND they got my tub inside!!!!  Still have to get the claw feet on the tub but at least it’s inside the walls!!! So excited!!

It’s Here!

tubHope you all had a great 4th of July! Happy belated birthday Judy!!  I was down in the “Springs” helping with Wedding stuff.  The Bayless family knows how to put on a fireworks show!!! I had a great time with Amie and her soon-to-be extended family, but we always have a great time together 😉

Raising the First Wall

This weekend was very busy at the farmhouse!  The floor was insulated and the sub-floor put down.  All of the existing siding from the back of the house is now gone and after raising the roof 5″, they raised my first wall!!  It looks so good.  I have 3 single-hung windows in the dining room and then in the bathroom I’ll have a 1’x5′ solid glass window over my tub – I have mentioned that it’s a claw foot tub?? Yeppers, can’t wait!  The bigger concern is how the heck we’re going to get that tub in – 350 lbs of cast iron!  😉

Inspections Passed!

Standard

The floor joist and the rough plumbing inspections have passed!!  Yahoooo!  The framers are starting tonight on removing the siding on the back of the house, then they’ll put down the subfloor, shore up the roof and then start on the exterior framing! It’s starting to come together and it’s soooo exciting!

Chandelier Re-Do

Matthew’s parents were getting rid of this chandelier and I was happy to take it off their hands!  I originally wanted to hang it in my barn but the ceiling is to low.  I decided to turn it into an outdoor (non-electric) chandelier.  I eventually will hang it over my outdoor dinning table but for now I did get to use it for Amie’s Bridal Shower.  I just took all the electrical parts out of each cup and hot glued the little votive cups onto the light socket area.  I found the votive cups with led candle lights at Hobby Lobby.  It’s purpose isn’t to light up the room but just for ambiance, LOL and it’s perfect!! I might even spray paint it one day.

Thankful!

Standard

ScriptureThere are many things I’m thankful for in my life and one of them is my little farmhouse fixer-upper.  I wouldn’t be here without God’s guidance and help in many ways.  When we poured the “footer” last week I thought to myself that the footer is really the foundation on which my addition will sit, my new dinning room, my new mudroom and my very awesome new bathroom & closet.  This addition is possible because of the many ways in which God has blessed me, so I decided to kind of dedicate this addition to Him by writing in the concrete one of my favorite scripture verses: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight”.

Progress on My Addition!

We’ve (Chance and the guys) have framed and poured the footer and the stem wall!!!  God has been good to us – the rain has waited, on several occasions, until we were done.  The “footer” is poured first, it holds the stem wall/foundation wall and the “stem wall” is poured separately, it holds the exterior walls and roof of my addition.  This process has been very eye-opening and these guys have been great!!  The framing on the stem wall comes off tonight and then we’ll start back-filling all that dirt tomorrow.  The interior and exterior framing should start Monday – yahoooo!!

Mad Hatter Tea Party – Friends & Games

Standard

I wanted to share these games with you that could be adapted for any party.  I found the “purse” game on Pinterest and also used it for Belle’s Baby Shower.  I got the Cheshire Cat & Rabbit pics off the internet, threw in a “backdrop” and voila!  The “purse” game is always fun.  You’d be surprised to know what people actually carry in their purse, LOL!!
