These colors will be my inspiration for my farmhouse kitchen. The kitchen however, is on hold – well everything is pretty much on hold. I’ve been working with my architect & contractor regarding adding 400 sq/ft which would include adding a dinning room, a master bath/closet and a new mudroom. My dream (well one of my dreams) is to extend the house about 12′ which would actually be inclosing the current covered back porch. I’ve approved the plans and now my dream is in the hands of my contractor & we’re waiting on bids. Sooooo we’ll see!

I just HAD to!
I went to Bud’s Warehouse with Jason & Tara a couple weeks ago. Bud’s Warehouse is a place where homeowners or contractors drop off stuff they don’t need, didn’t use, or had to much of like doors, cabinets, paint, tile etc. As soon as we walked in I saw this little vintage high-chair. Oh my word, toooo cute! Angel, it reminds me of the high chair you had when you were little! It’s not like a needed another project, LOL.
Under Cabinet Lights!!
I haven’t decided exactly what I want to do with my kitchen yet. My time and energy right now is going into planning the addition. In the meantime, I bought these under cabinet LED lights at Costco for less than $20 and I love them. Super simple – seriously – takes like 10 minutes to put them up!! The 2-pack has EVERYTHING you need even the batteries. Just pre-drill the holes & screw in the plate. The settings are ON – OFF – Motion Detect. Crazy good value and the LED lights are bright. For those of you just dying to know, yes that is a portable diswasher, LOL! Looking forward to replacing that baby, but for now it works just fine. 😉
Small Change, Big Improvement
I wanted to add some trim to all my doors and windows at the farmhouse to make them look more chunky. I was surprised that they actually make the rooms look taller. Jason came over to help (well he actually did all the work, lol). We used a 1×2 on top of the existing trim, a 1×4 flat against the wall and another 1×2 on top of that. He cut the 1×2’s 1″ longer so we’d have a 1/2″ over hang. He bought pre-primed pine and caulked the seams (pre-primed mdf was more expensive). Now I just have to paint them. I absolutely love it and can’t wait to get the whole house done!! Thanks Jasoni!! 😉
P.S. It cost a little over $100 for 8 doors (front & back)
Farmhouse Update
So why is it that everythinggggggg takes longer than you think it will???? The week after Christmas my bestie Sherry came out from Cali to help me paint. We were laughing cause everyday we had big plans and everyday we didn’t accomplish as much as we thought we would, lol. The good news is we did get the entire front room 14×22 repainted and I love it!! I am a big fan of Behr paint and the gray I ended up going with is called “Fashion Gray”. The perfect medium/dark gray. We sat back and loved how the gray looked against the white trim . . . then Sherry started repainting the white trim & we were shocked to see how NOT white it had been!! The new white is Behr Pure White Semi-Gloss. Looks great!!! Thanks Sherry for Allllll your help!!
Sunshine is Coming
Moving!
Wow – this is not fun!! Packing a house after 18 years is a lot!!!! It doesn’t seem like you have THAT much stuff until you have to pack it!! And I’ve actually been getting rid of stuff allllll summer just in case I found the right house. Anyyywho, I’ll be off the grid for awhile, so if I miss telling you – I’ll tell you now . . . as we celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ next week I am thankful for you ALL . . . all of your prayers, your help & your encouragement. You all have been a blessing to me. I pray that you enjoy your time with family & friends and I pray that God will bless you in the coming New Year!! P.S. My Christmas card is going to end up being a New Year’s Card! 😉 Merry Christmas!!
My Little Farmhouse Fixer Upper
Here it is!!! My little Farmhouse Fixer Upper with emphasis on “fixer upper”. It is exactly what I was looking for, a small house (built in 1958) with big yard and the barn/garage is a bonus!! LOL, seriously who doesn’t want a barn?! It’s a 3 bedroom, 1 bath ranch house on a 1/3 acre. There’s another 10ft behind the barn that backs up to horse pasture. It’s a little piece of country, kinda sorta in the city. It’s unincorporated Adams County and is on well & septic. I have big plans for this cute little “Grammy Ronda Farmhouse” so be forewarned, my blog is about to turn into DIY Projects Central, LOL!
Electrical Has Begun . . .
The electricians were at the farmhouse today. The whole house has to be rewired. It was built in 1958 and still had a “fuse” box. I remember seeing one of those in my grandmother’s house, lol. Thankfully the owners have already moved so the house is empty. They agreed to pay the expense on the electrical (I get the plumbing – lol). This is the main living area – 14×20, the kitchen is through that door area on the right and the left doorway leads to the master, bathroom & the linen closet. I’ll try and get the house pics up tomorrow. . . 😉
Packing Has Begun!
So, because I’m a little organized AND I hate to ask for help AND if I do need help I want it to be as simple as possible, I came up with this fantastic idea (if I do say so myself)! It’s hard enough to move your whole house (that you’ve lived in for 20 years!), so to make it a little easier on all of us I went and bought colored Duck Tape. Each room in my house has it’s own color, so ALL my kitchen boxes have a strip of Yellow Duck Tape and ALL my Christmas boxes have a strip of Red Duck Tape, etc. Now I wont’ have to read my notes on every single box to figure out where it goes!! Great idea, right?!?! 😉
