Very Cool – Closet Sensor Light

Standard

Oh my gosh – soooo cool.  Brian (Matthew’s dad) told me about these motion sensor lights, only $20.  Brian & Diane (Matthew’s folks) bought these for Amie & Matthew’s closets and their downstairs bathroom.  I bought this one and hope to install it this weekend.  If you have a light switch inside your closet (even a bathroom, pantry, etc.)  you replace the switch with this switch.  Super nice if you’re entering or exiting and your hands are full.  You can set it to turn off 1 min., 5 min. or 15 min. after leaving the room.  It will stay on for as long as it senses movement.  Very Cool!!  Those plastic things in the second picture are actually used in place of wire nuts – very easy for DIY’ers.  Thanks Brian!

56b84c7fc36188611f8b4573Super Bowl Champs!!!!!  What can I say!  Wayyyy to go Broncos!!!  So happy for Peyton Manning and the Broncos!!  I have to say though it was really weird to be watching the Super Bowl and be more excited when the “defense” was on the field than when the “offense” was on the field.  I was going crazy yelling at the Defense to “get them” and then so afraid when the Offense was up that they would mess it up!  I don’t think I really appreciated our Defense until watching them yesterday – dang they were sooooo goooood!!  Anywhooooo – yahooooo & way to go Von Miller #58!!!

Santa Bag

Standard

I realize this information is a tad late but just in case your Christmas Tree is still up . . . I’ve had my flocked tree for 30 years!! The tree still looks great but the box it came in has finally given up.  I bought this “Santa Bag” from Amazon.com – it’s canvas, has handles and wheels.  It is awesome!!! I wish I would have done this sooner. Took that baby out the front door and wheeled it to the barn! Love it!

It’s Wellie Time

Standard

Wellies“Wellies” are what they call rubber boots in the UK.   It started raining last night and should continue for the next couple of days, so I was super excited to wear my “wellies” to work today.  Here’s a little trivia for your rainy Wednesday . . . .  “Wellies” were worn and popularized by Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington.  This “Wellington” boot became a staple of hunting and outdoor wear for the British aristocracy in the early 19th century.

They’re very comfortable and pretty true to size.  I love the buckle on the side and the stripe on the back, which I did not get a pic of.  These were a birthday gift and I love them!! Thanks Sherry!!

Here’s the U.S. website and fyi, you can get some of the styles from “target.com”.  There are sooo many cute ones it’ll be hard to choose!!  http://tinyurl.com/nc4yztz

“Grout Renew” Stain & Sealer

Standard

As much as I love my new tiled mudroom, I didn’t love the grout color I chose.  It’s called “Bone” and it dried a bit lighter than I was hoping for.  I hadn’t sealed the grout joints yet and was told about a stain & sealer all in one.  I found it at Home Depot, it’s called “Grout Renew” and it comes in several different colors.  I went with “Sandstone” and now I love it.  Toward the bottom of the picture with the bottle, you can see the old grout color vs. the new grout color.  The stain is like the consistency of paint, make sure you shake it very well.  I just poured out a small amount onto a paper plate and used a toothbrush (recommended) to brush the stain into every grout joint.  I’d recommend doing a few tiles at a time and wipe excess off as you go.  Depending on the temperature in your house it can try fairly quickly.  I just kept a damp rag with me and it wiped up off the tiles very easily.  It was a little tedious but totally worth the time.  I love this product and would totally recommend it!!  It’d be a great grout update if you have existing tile you want to freshen up or change the color of the grout.  P.S. I guess I took my pics at different times of the day – the stain did not change the color of my tile – it’s just the lighting.  😉

Wedding Project

Standard

I found these lanterns clearanced at Lowe’s a few years ago at the end of summer, only 75cents each! So knowing at some point and time I’d use them I bought about a dozen.  The time has come, lol, wedding project.  I bought the premade burlap bows at Hobby Lobby $2.99 ea. and the flowers at Joanne’s, sunflowers $3.60 (40% off price) and the little white flowers $2.99 (not on sale).  A little hot glue and voila!! Per lantern – flowers .82 cents, bow $2.99, lantern .75 cents = $4.56 each!!! I love a good bargain and super cute!! 🙂

Wedding Projects

FabricMy latest project & obsession is pennant banners!  I, of course, found this on Pinterest and the link gives a great tutorial on how to make them.  I found that buying the “Fabric Quarters” from Joanne’s is a couple steps quicker.  #1 you don’t have to “pull a number” and wait for your fabric to be cut, #2 the fabric quarters are already a perfect size.  I like her idea of picking 5 different patterns.  Five fabric quarters will get you 25 7×9 pennants which makes 2 banners – 12 pennants each – each 9′ long! Soooo anywho, I’ll do my own breakdown with pics, hopefully, next week.  We’re suppose to get almost a foot of snow this weekend, so I’ll be stuck inside working on wedding projects, which is pretty fun! 😉  Here’s her link: http://www.yourhomebasedmom.com/fabric-pendant-banner-tutorial/
