Whether you have birthed a child or not, there is a child you know whose life you’ve touched. In a classroom, in a Sunday school class, a niece, a nephew, a friend’s daughter or son. As women, single or married we have a unique gift that we give when we touch someone’s life. Being a mom, a grandmother, an aunt, a friend, we can give the gift of encouragement and love to someone. It is a blessing from God when we are able to nurture and shape someone’s life, make an impression on them. I’ve been a single mom for over 20 years and have been blessed myself by my 2 kids. I can remember my grandmother telling me “how fast time flies” and I didn’t believe her. You don’t see it until you’re old enough to look back. It’s hard to recognize the importance of our role because we can get caught up in the struggles of everyday life. But every day, every decision, every comment we make has an influence on them. Looking back on my last 20+ years, my daughter 24 and my son 27, I realize I seriously could not have done it without God’s help. This year on Mother’s Day I hope you will feel blessed when you get that big hug, that card, that cute enamel colander that you wanted 🙂 – YOU DID GOOD!!
