Sooooo Jason and Tara are at it again!!! Designing and building! Their new “Ranch” has kind of an “L” shape eat-in kitchen so Jason built banquette for seating & back wall board but then their 4 legged kitchen table didn’t work so he built a new table! Thennnnn they built the mason jar light fixture hanging over it! The navy color paint looks great against that new white window trim. Tara did the burlap cushions and the plate wall is soooo cute! Way to go Bensons! 🙂

Master Bath Progress
I made a little progress in the master bath this weekend. I got all the cement board screwed down to the subfloor and finished painting (well, except for the ceiling). I’ve been told that the cement board is necessary if you want a sturdy surface for you tiles. Some people just tile over the plywood but I didn’t want to take any chances, I only want to this ONE time, LOL. It was like putting a puzzle together and wholly toledo it took a boat load of screws! I love my Ryobi drill. It was part of a combo kit I bought earlier this year and it works like a charm. I opened up a box of my tile, because I couldn’t take it any longer, and laid it out on the floor – loveeeeee!!!!! It’s a wood look porcelain tile by MARAZZI and I bought it at Home Depot – they have several different colors and they all look amazing – here’s a link: http://tinyurl.com/pzwj856 . . . hoping to start the tiling this week! 🙂
Trinkets for My Little Farmhouse
Mudroom is Functioning!
The sink and countertop are in and everything is functional!! I love my farm sink and cabinet. I just added the crystal knobs last night (Hobby Lobby 50% off this week). When I unscrewed the drawer knob I found it had a wood screw – crazy, I’ve never seen anything like it – so cool. I still wanted to utilize the cabinet drawer so Brian used the wood shelf that was in the bottom of the cabinet for the sections in the drawer to make room for the sink drain. He and his wife did all my drywall and he’s helping me do the stuff I don’t know how to do. The countertop is one of IKEA’s in-stock countertops, one slab and only cost $69 (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90276612/) and I found the faucet on Overstock. I’m not going to do all the “finish” details right now because I want to move on to the bathroom and get that “functioning” – I want my tub 😉 !!!
“Trick or Treat”
Mudroom Lights Are UP!
YUM
Mudroom
Washer and dryer – in – check! I never thought I’d be excited about doing laundry but my old washing machine finally gave up. It was my grandmother’s and is a Maytag that was over 30 years old! They just don’t make things like they use too. My new (new to me) washer and dryer were given to me by Jason & Tara. The house they moved into earlier this year had these and they didn’t want them cause they love their front loaders, so I’ve had them sitting in the barn all summer. I love them, that washing machine is huge! I went to put clothes in it (a normal “old” load) and there was room for a load more! And it’s sooooo quiet and has a cute little chimey song when the load is done! Thank you Jason & Tara!!!! xoxo . . . Farmhouse sink and countertop next!
PINK-TOBER
Mudroom
My mudroom is coming along. I got the back beadboard panels painted and had some help getting the upper cabinets in place. I’ll get the corner bottom cabinets attached tonight and tomorrow I’m getting help for the mudroom sink plumbing and reinforcing the cabinet it’s sitting on. I bought the cabinets at Home Depot (20% off), they’re called “Natural Hickory” and they are “in stock” cabinets! I bought the little cabinet the sink is sitting on from a friend here at work, it has a piece of marble for the top and a marble backsplash. I had thought about adding feet to it because it’s only 27″ tall but removing the marble and adding my sink brought it to a great height cause the sink is 10″ deep. Once I get the countertop in place the sink will have about a 1″ reveal. I loveeeeee it! My friend Sherry brought the sink out for me when she and her family drove out for Amie’s wedding. Sherry had remodeled her kitchen, removed the farmhouse sink and asked if I wanted her to hang onto it for me. I hadn’t bought my little farmhouse yet but knew I’d want a farmhouse sink. It’ll be perfect for washing my hands after yard work cause it’s right by the door. I cannot wait to use it, it’s huge 30″x 20″, I could give Belle a bath in it, LOL. Thanks girl!!
