“Rainbow Chip Frosting”

Standard

IMG_0817It’s finally back!!  Rainbow Chip frosting!  I think it actually came back last summer.  It’s my daughter’s 27th birthday today and her absolutely favorite cake in the world is Funfetti cake w/Rainbow Chip frosting!  And it has to be “Rainbow Chip” frosting NOT Funfetti frosting!  It’s just not the same.  Funfetti cake mix is by Pillsbury and they also make a Funfetti frosting.  But Betty Crocker makes the “Rainbow Chip” frosting and they discontinued making it awhile back.  She’s soooo happy it’s back.  Jason & Tara actually found it last year and bought her several tubs of it, lol.  The label even says “back by popular demand”!!  Yummmmmm Happy Birthday Amie! 😉

IMG_0584One of my friends in Cali & I love to dress up our “Coffee Bar”.  This pic is from Christmas.  We’ve starting joking about having a competition so I thought I’d invite you all to join in on the fun.  Whether you have a “Coffee Bar”, coffee area or coffee pot (lol) why not take a little time to dress it up!  So here is the challenge – the theme is “EASTER” and you have until March 18th to send me your “Coffee Bar” pic – send to: cottagecharms@msn.com.  I’ll post all the pics the week of March 21st and announce the winner on Thursday, March 24th.  There is no prize other than a big fat Congrats!! Hope you join in!! Have fun with it!

Ready for Mortar

Standard

IMG_0814I’ve gotten all the tiles cut & spaced out in my closet.  Now I just need to get the mortar down and grout – which will not be this weekend.  It’s my daughter’s 27th birthday!!  And she’s coming up for the weekend, so we’ll do a family dinner and get some shopping in for sure.  Mortar will have to wait. 😉

Closet Storage Can Be Cute

Standard

How cute are these?!  I found these cubby/storage things at Kohls.  There were originally $60 marked down 70% to $17.99!!! That’s not all . . . then their clearance was an extra 20% off AND I had a 30% off coupon!!!  I got them for $10 each!!!!!  I sooooo scored!!!!  I thought they’d look extra cute with some detail on them so I found these “name plates” at Hobby Lobby and used my 40% off coupon (always on their website – hobbylobby.com).  Hung those babies in my closet and love them!  Storage doesn’t have to be plain – it can be totally cute!!

My New Buffet

Standard

I have always wanted a buffet for my new dinning room.  In fact I bought that art piece (from Kirkland’s) a year ago just waiting for the perfect buffet to hang it over.  I’ve been looking since Thanksgiving and I was specific about what I was looking for: no glass, no baskets, wanted it 36″ tall, wanted a couple of drawers, it couldn’t be more than 18″ deep, hoping for about 48″ in length and dreaming of a painted finish.  I stopped by Home Goods, again, and there it was!!!  The clouds parted and I heard singing!!!  It was/is perfect!!  Painted finish, drawers & doors, 18″ deep, 56″ long, no glass, no baskets!!  I’m telling you I felt like a kid at Christmas that scored my dream gift!!  LOL   Yahooo, Home Goods!!  P.S. Look closely at my art – Yes, that is a pig jumping off a dock!  Love it!!

Pool Noodles

Standard

I’d seen this on Pinterest a long time ago but hadn’t tried it.  I have two pairs of boots that fold over in my closet and take up extra space, space is a premium, lol.  I finally remembered to track down a pool noodle I had used for a party prop.  I found it in the barn over the weekend and cut it to fit the height of my boots (simple sharp kitchen knife).  LOVE!!  Perfect solution to droopy boots in your closet.  😉

Very Cool – Closet Sensor Light

Standard

Oh my gosh – soooo cool.  Brian (Matthew’s dad) told me about these motion sensor lights, only $20.  Brian & Diane (Matthew’s folks) bought these for Amie & Matthew’s closets and their downstairs bathroom.  I bought this one and hope to install it this weekend.  If you have a light switch inside your closet (even a bathroom, pantry, etc.)  you replace the switch with this switch.  Super nice if you’re entering or exiting and your hands are full.  You can set it to turn off 1 min., 5 min. or 15 min. after leaving the room.  It will stay on for as long as it senses movement.  Very Cool!!  Those plastic things in the second picture are actually used in place of wire nuts – very easy for DIY’ers.  Thanks Brian!

Congrats to Amie & Matthew

Standard

One of the reasons I took vacation last week was to help my daughter out with their new home!  Amie & Matthew  – I’m so happy for them!  It’s a great house on 1/2 acre.  We painted allllll weekend, got some boxes moved and unpacked and got to hang out with Diane & Brian (Matthew’s parents).  Jason came down and surprised Amie on Friday, it was perfect!  He helped paint and hung up one of her new outdoor lights.  My plan was to come home Monday to get ready for guests (my Texas Bestie, Robin & her husband Bob) and to work on my closet.  Well that’s not what happened.  The picture on the left was taken Friday, the picture on the right was taken Monday – when I’d planned on leaving.  We shoveled about a foot of snow and the roads were horrible but we made it back to the old house, so I thought I’d leave on Tuesday.  NOPE!  It snowed all day Tuesday, another 8-10″ so we just spent the day packing up more stuff.  I ended up leaving Wednesday morning, Bob & Robin were coming in from Texas Wednesday night, and when I got home I got to shovel my own 10″ of snow! Yay, lucky me, lol.

Yessssssss!!!!

56b84c7fc36188611f8b4573Super Bowl Champs!!!!!  What can I say!  Wayyyy to go Broncos!!!  So happy for Peyton Manning and the Broncos!!  I have to say though it was really weird to be watching the Super Bowl and be more excited when the “defense” was on the field than when the “offense” was on the field.  I was going crazy yelling at the Defense to “get them” and then so afraid when the Offense was up that they would mess it up!  I don’t think I really appreciated our Defense until watching them yesterday – dang they were sooooo goooood!!  Anywhooooo – yahooooo & way to go Von Miller #58!!!
