Ladies (here in Colorado), because I’m your new BFF for Mammograms, I came across this today and wanted to share it. St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Mammogram Van will be doing FREE mammograms on October 18th from 8:15am-2:45pm.The van will be at the North Metro Fire Rescue Station #62 @ 10550 Huron St. in Northglenn across the street from Crossroads Church (kinda). Maybe someone you know doesn’t have health insurance? They just need to call & schedule a time @ 303-318-3419. Seriously if FREE doesn’t float your boat, the van will be parked at the Fire Station . . . helloooo . . . need I say more! LOL

“It’s a Dot” . . . Update

Standard

Yesterday was my last “full” treatment. So that ends the original 5 week treatment. NOOOOO it has NOT gone by fast – LOL. I was diagnosed just 3 months ago and it seems like it’s been 6 months.

I am sunburned and tired, but do feel pretty good, just feeling crazy emotional (like more than just crying at Hallmark commercials). I don’t feel depressed,  just, maybe a little overwhelmed, maybe everything this summer is just catching up with me, maybe since this treatment is coming to a close it’s kind of back in my face again and moving to the next treatment (so if we talk over the phone or in person – don’t take it personally if I start crying . . LOL). I’ll have to meet with the medical oncologist to discuss an oral medication. I’m thinking my body is just a little tired, physically and emotionally. Ready to be done with radiation and driving downtown everyday.

Today is the first of my 5 day “boost” treatments. The “boost” treatments concentrate on the area where the lumpectomy was done. The radiation dose is different than the full treatment. This dose will be quicker and doesn’t penetrate very deep into my skin. It is concentrated to the incision location only, so the rest of my skin should start healing.

It’s the last day of “this” summer & I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Yessssssssssssssssssss!

Ready for Fall

Standard

I’ve been looking for a fall wreath to hang on my new, cute, green, front door. (I had my house painted this summer.) This picture looks a little yellowy but my door is like a “green tea green”. The wreaths have either been way too expensive or way too expensive and have ugly fake pumpkins on them. I decided to go to “Home Goods”. . .  Duhhhh . . . should have just gone there first! Found this fall wreath and added a little bit of purple to it. Have I mentioned how much I love fall – LOL! Living in Colorado you experience every season. It’s kind of like a new beginning each time the season changes!

Between the 3 of us we must have played at least 15 games.  I guess my ping pong skills are not at great as I thought, need more practice! We had a great time. Way to go Amie!!

Jason & Tara
Christmas 2010

Jason and Tara have been together about 2 years. They bought a house together earlier this year. So Jason calls me last night,  “Mom, guess what Tara & I did today?” . . . me, “aaaaaa . . . ohh I don’t know – what?” (It was Tara’s birthday yesterday, they were at work yesterday, soooo??) Jason, “We got married” . . me, “no you didn’t” . . . Jason, “Yes we did” . . . me, “aaaaa NOOO YOU DID NOT!” . . . Jason, “Yes we did, I swear, we went to the court house after work and got married” . . . me, ” OMMMMGEEEEE”.  I was shocked and excited at the same time! I told Tara, “oh my gosh, I’ve never had a daughter-in-law before”! We just laughed and I told her – oh my gosh that means “muffin man” is officially my grandson!! Yahoooooo!!! Our family just increased by 2 overnight!!

Ping Pong Table Update

Standard

Just in case you all were losing sleep wondering what happened to my ping pong table (ref. my June post: Summer is here!) . . . I am making progress. Life got in the middle of me putting it together, but I’m back on it . . . and now I have my “good gloves”. What a difference good gloves make, on the other hand, who knew you had muscles in your “rear end”. Seriously after the last 60 screws (without the drill) I could hardly walk. I was laughing at myself. Just sitting down at my desk and getting up again has been painful. Hmmmm after I get that ping pong table done I’d better plug in my treadmill.

So after whining about putting in 100 screws by hand (the instructions said NO DRILL), one of my coworkers brought in his DeWalt drill for assistance (thanks Brucey). He set up the “torque” for me (whatever that is) and I was ready to go.  Soooooo why is it that EVERY TIME you have a project it ALWAYS ends up taking twice as long as you thought???? EVERY TIME!! The only pieces I had left were the plastic corners and plastic guards that go around the edges of the table. With DeWalt in for the assist, I was thinking “one hour max” . . . . uhhhh noooooo! None of the manufactured pre-drilled holes lined up with the corners or guards!! Seriously!!! Geeze louise!!! I had to pre-drill new holes before I could put the last 32 screws in . . . 2 hours!!!  To be continued . . .
