Best Ever Wheelbarrow by Rubbermaid

Standard

WheelbarrowI bought this at Home Depot and I absolutely love it.  The sales guy showed it to me and I said “oh, it’s not that cute” – he laughed and said “ma’am it’s a wheelbarrow” – I laughed and said “well, maybe I could put some stickers on it”.  Yes, I’m a dork, but come on – why are tool things not cuter!! 😉  It’s a bit pricey buttt it’s soooo easy to maneuver and the part that sold me on it was that I can tip it up to unload it and it stays up.  Great for moving anything and it’s big, lots of room for plants, mulch, tools or even concrete. I just load it up and go – saves me several trips back and forth from the barn.  Here’s the link if you’re interested: http://tinyurl.com/lrdjy32

Concrete Demo

Standard

In between rain showers on Saturday, Chance (my GC) came over and demo’d the concrete for the foundation wall.  We rented the jackhammer from Home Depot.  Now we wait . . . we need a few days without rain so we can excavate and pour the foundation wall.  Just to be clear, whenever I say “we” I actually mean Chance, LOL.  😉

Demo Has Begun!

Demo on the back porch has begun.  Chance is my son’s best friend and we’ve known Chance since Jason was in high school.  Chance is the Assistant GC for a big construction company here in the Denver area and he’s helping me with my addition.  We had to demo the little back wall which was cinder blocks & railroad ties, then the side walls came down.  Chance is cutting the concrete because we have to dig out a section for a stem wall and footers.  We were hoping to rent the Mini-Excavator this weekend to start digging but it’s raining all week, so we may have to put that off for a bit! POOOOOO!!!!

P.S. Yes ladies, in case you’re looking . . . Chance is single, 30 years old and a great guy! Just sayin!! 😉

Tree Trimming

I decided to have a tree service come out & clean up some of my old trees.  I’ve never owned a home with trees as old as these and they’re beautiful.  I love big ol’ trees, they have such character.  Well these were over grown and have never been trimmed.  Some huge branches hung over the neighbors house so I wanted those cut off – heavy snow on tree branches can be a scary thing.  I found this company – Rom-Sons Tree Services & they did an outstanding job for a fair price.  I even had them take some tree stumps out & they pulled out those ugly junipers in front of the house along with the 1/2 dead juniper bush.  I asked them to leave the stump back by the huge tree on the side of the barn yard – it’s going to be a mushroom stool for the grandkids & Jason and I are going to build a “kinda” tree house around that tree! Now I just have to dig out that old satellite dish@@ Here is the website for Rom-Sons – I highly recommend them – excellent service, friendly and cleaned up everything when they were done: http://romsonstree.com

Wedding Projects

“Michaels” carries these great “cut-outs” and Amie and I thought we (I) could make some signs for her wedding.  We’re going to use them like chalkboards, kinda-sorta.  I spray painted the trim color, then taped off the inside to spray black, super simple!  I used satin spray paint for both colors.  Just added some burlap ribbon & a sunflower – spray paint and hot glue guns are my friend! 😉

Little Vases

Standard

VasesCute little vintage “Moonstone Hobnail” vases.  I picked up these little vases at an antique store around the corner at work.  Amie’s bridal shower theme is “Mad Hatter Tea Party”.  I love hobnail anyway but I’ve never seen “Moonstone” hobnail, they’re basically clear with traces of white and blue.  Super cute with some flowers for the tea party table.
