String LightsMy string lights are here!  It’s a bit of a distance between the back of the house and the barn, so I’ll need to get some wire cable to string across for extra support. Cannnnnoooottt wait to get these hung.  Heyyyy my daughter and new son-in-law are coming up this weekend . . . maybe they can help? What do you think Amie & Matthew?  😉 xoxo

She has Feet!

Standard

I spent the day last week with Jason and his truck.  We went to Harbor Freight, then to Home Depot.  He helped me with 14 sheets of bead board, 9 sheets of cement board, mortar, grout, spacers, and paint.  When we got home and got it all unloaded, we unwrapped “her” and Jason put the feet on for me!  She’s just gorgeous!!! The pics just don’t do her justice.  If you’re interested, the color on the walls is Behr “Seaglass”, it’s really lovely – very calm and soothing. Thanks for all your help Jasoni! xoxo

P.S. I need to take pictures straight on – the room is NOT crooked, the roof does slant but it’s not crooked.  😉

Concrete Pour Tomorrow!

The guys came over last weekend and worked on the forms for concrete.  I needed to have the section that had been dug out for the stem wall filled back in to keep water away from the house.  The back side faces North so in the winter the snow/water just freezes back there because it doesn’t see the sun.  So since the concrete truck was coming I wanted to get a few more things poured.  I actually lovvveee concrete! Concrete means no weeds! Concrete means nice, clean walkways!  Well concrete doesn’t come cheap!!  I’m having the front poured with a new sidewalk because the old one will be covered by a porch (hopefully next Spring).  I’m also having a pad poured on the west side of the backyard for a little serving/kitchen area, then a small pad poured on the side of my barn where the garden will be (hopefully next Spring).  Things are changing at City Girl Farms! 😉

I Won!!!

Standard

PaintingI was in Joann’s back in July (one of many wedding project trips) and I bought a “Sunflower” canvas of Susan Winget’s.  Joann’s had a huge display of a new line they’re carrying from Susan Winget which includes canvas paintings, candles, notebooks, seriously you name it.  Anywho, when I was checking out with my “Sunflower” canvas I was telling the clerk how much I loved it and she mentioned that I should fill out a form for a drawing they were doing for this huge canvas (24×36) they had on display, sweeettt!  So before I left the store I filled it out.  On the day of Amie’s wedding I was driving out early to the house for “mom & daughter” pics when my cell phone rang.  It was Joann’s telling me that I’d won the drawing – get out! No way! Soooo cool and I love it!  The colors are so bright and the canvas is wrapped in burlap trim with but metal studs.  I’m going to hang it in my new mudroom, it’s the inspiration for the yellow and green I’m going to do.  Can’t wait to hang it up!  😉

Vintage Soap Dish – LOVEEEEE

Standard

soap dishI found this adorable soap dish on Chip & JoJo’s website, magnoliahomes.net and I loveeeee it!! The dish is porcelain/creamware and the base looks like galvanized metal.  It’s large in size and the ceramic part is removable for easy cleaning.  I just can’t decide if I should use it in my future mudroom or with my clawfoot tub??? Bummer, I should have just gotten 2, sooooo stinkin’ cute!

Finished My Wall Collage

Standard

Soooo, back in February I posted about the “Distressed Deer Plaque” I found at Kirland’s.  I can finally show you my finished wall collage – hey, I’ve been a bit busy andddddd I was waiting for the last piece to arrive – thank you Sherry!!  She made me the sign on the top left side that says, “She believed she could, so she did”.  I love it!  Last year when I was dreaming about the little farmhouse (before I bought it) we saw this quote on Pinterest and she told me that when I found my farmhouse she’d make me that sign and she did.  The water color of the little man on the bench was painted by a friend of mine, thank you Nina, from a photo I took in Italy, the painting of the trees and stream was painted by my son back in 1999 and the photo of the windmill I took in Kansas a few years ago.  I love this wall – along with some family photos it reminds me of some special times in my life. 😉

Ree PotThe Pioneer Woman/Ree Drummond has launched her new collection of kitchen stuff!!  Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  Her “Flea Market” pieces are my favorite!!  Amie & Jason . . .  my birthday is coming up, Christmas is coming up . . . . just sayin’!!!  Ree’s collection is sold at walmart.com with merchandise coming into stores mid September!  Seriously I want the Flea Market Butter Dish (so stickin’ cute), the Flea Market Pitcher and oh my gosh, the bowls are adorable.  I think I’ll need to have some glass cabinet doors in the kitchen to show off all my “pretties”.  LOL

Chicken Sittin’

My neighbors across the street went away for the weekend and asked me to keep an eye on the “girls”.  She (Shelley) told me it would be really easy, just make sure they have water and feed and if I wanted to be their bestie, give them some “scratch”.  I’d like to have a few chickens of my own some day so I thought this was a good opportunity to break me in, lol and seriously who would pass up some “free” just laid “cage-free” eggs! The girls behaved themselves, except for a couple of them that kept getting out over the fence but when I got out the “scratch” they all came running – so cute!  😉
