Yes, this baby shower has consumed almost every brain cell I have, lol. I wanted a few vases with fresh flowers to put around the house for the baby shower next month. I really wanted “milk glass” but opted for the “Dollar Store” and some spray paint (I used a matte finish) . . . here they are – pretty cute right!? 😉

Movie Review . . .
Amie came over yesterday to hang out & go to the movies. When she was in high school she was addicted to the TV show “Veronica Mars” hince I became addicted. We both love Kristen Bell and the movie just came out Friday. It was just as exciting as the TV series . . . left you wanting more!! Not sure you’d enjoy it if you hadn’t watched any of the TV series . . . you kinda need to know the cast of characters. We loved it and it’s always fun to hang out with my daughter!! 😉
Good Laugh . . . Happy Sunny Friday!
Braggin’ Time Again . . .
My son & daughter-in-law are the epitome of creativity. These two make a dynamic duo for sure! This is Jason’s latest project . . . a bookshelf build from scratch for “our” baby girl’s room. He taped off and hand painted the chevron stripes on the back and his miter cuts on those trim pieces are incredibly perfect!! Then Tara hand painted this adorable little mom & baby deer picture. She added some glitter for a little “bling”, lol. That girl can paint!! She’s going to do 2 more for the baby’s room. Can’t wait to see them!!
Wow Me Wednesday . . .
Our weekends have been cold & a bit snowy so a Crock-Pot Roast was a perfect choice for dinner. My most favorite home-cooked meal is roast & mashed potatoes!! I had bought a 2-3lb beef roast a few days before & I already had a can of Cream of Mushroom Soup & luckily, an envelope of Lipton Onion Soup Mix . . . but I thought I should add some kind of liquid? So onto Pinterest I went when I found this recipe . . . I had a can of Coke!! Yessss!!! But I didn’t have carrots so I just made the roast. Don’t ask me what kind of roast it was . . . it was beef and it was just a hunk of meat without the string on it – lol. I mixed the coke with the two soup mixes, poured it over the roast and put the crock pot on low for about 8 hours or so. I like it when it falls apart so 8-9 hours on low works . . . the gravy it made was delicious. I’m attaching the link to the original recipe – Enjoy!!

“Spring Forward”
It’s that time of year again . . . and I don’t like it!! This time change thing really stinks!! It’s hard enough to get out of bed in the morning (I’m not a morning person) but when it’s stillllll dark outside – seriously!! I do, however, love having the extra daylight after work! It reminds me that spring is around the corner . . . flowers to plant, projects to work on and my granddaughter is coming!!!
I found this pic on Pinterest and thought it was sooooo cute . . . I wonder if our Baby Girl Benson will look like her . . . the pic actually looks like my daughter, Amie!
For those of you that are already grandparents, I know you totally get my crazy enthusiasm. I seriously cannot believe my son is having a baby. Your kids are your “kids” and when they have kids – it’s just crazy, lol.
Well, back to the time change . . . anywhooo I just wanted to give you all a friendly reminder that it’s THIS Saturday night we turn the clocks forward. It seems like it’s soooo early this year! I’m thinking next week will require some extra coffee!! Right Judy? 😉
Wow Me Wednesday . . .
Winter has not left us yet. The weekend was a bit snowy and very cold. Perfect weather to try out a new recipe and any excuse to use my KitchenAid Immersion Blender!! Love that thing!!
I found this recipe on “The Pioneer Woman”. I just cut it in half – didn’t want to eat it for a week, her recipe serves 10. Ree also uses whole milk & half/half but I usually only buy 1%milk, however I did buy some heavy cream so that’s what I used. I’m giving you my recipe but wanted to include her link for step by step instructions. Again . . . super simple and super yummy!
Broccoli Cheese Soup
1/2 white onion – diced 1/4 cup butter 2 1/2 TBS flour 2 cups milk (1%) 1 cup heavy cream 2 cups broccoli heads 1 pinch nutmeg 1 1/2 cups grated cheese (I used sharp cheddar) Melt butter over medium heat, add onions & cook 3-4 minutes. Sprinkle flour over onions, stir to combine and cook for 1 minute or so. Pour in milk and heavy cream. Add nutmeg, broccoli, salt & black pepper. Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, until broccoli is tender. Stir in cheese and allow to melt. Now it’s time for the fun . . . . bring out your immersion blender!! Sprinkle with more cheese (because you can never have enough cheese!) and enjoy!!!http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/11/broccoli-cheese-soup/
