Wedding Projects
My latest project & obsession is pennant banners! I, of course, found this on Pinterest and the link gives a great tutorial on how to make them. I found that buying the “Fabric Quarters” from Joanne’s is a couple steps quicker. #1 you don’t have to “pull a number” and wait for your fabric to be cut, #2 the fabric quarters are already a perfect size. I like her idea of picking 5 different patterns. Five fabric quarters will get you 25 7×9 pennants which makes 2 banners – 12 pennants each – each 9′ long! Soooo anywho, I’ll do my own breakdown with pics, hopefully, next week. We’re suppose to get almost a foot of snow this weekend, so I’ll be stuck inside working on wedding projects, which is pretty fun! 😉 Here’s her link: http://www.yourhomebasedmom.com/fabric-pendant-banner-tutorial/
State of Affairs
Wedding Projects Have Begun
We really need some good weather cause I have a list of projects that require some spray paint!! Anywho, I was able to get this one in during our last break in below freezing temps. Amie had seen something similar on Pinterest to use for Wedding Cards at the Reception. I bought the crate at Michael’s for $9.99. I already had the stain. I bought stickers for the lettering, bought the burlap flower and hot glued a rhinestone button in the middle of it. The wood crate surface is a bit rough so I used some “Mod Podge” to coat over the letters for a little extra protection. Then, just cut some triangles out of cardstock for the little “cards” banner and glued them to some cute trim. Turned out pretty cute if I say so myself! 😉
Color Inspiration
These colors will be my inspiration for my farmhouse kitchen. The kitchen however, is on hold – well everything is pretty much on hold. I’ve been working with my architect & contractor regarding adding 400 sq/ft which would include adding a dinning room, a master bath/closet and a new mudroom. My dream (well one of my dreams) is to extend the house about 12′ which would actually be inclosing the current covered back porch. I’ve approved the plans and now my dream is in the hands of my contractor & we’re waiting on bids. Sooooo we’ll see!
Distressed White Deer Head Plaque
Love my deer head!! I first saw this on Pinterest and realized “Kirkland’s” sold it. The only Kirkland’s I’m aware of is down in Colorado Springs & thank goodness my daughter lives there!! I decided to hang it inside an empty frame because I wanted it to be part of my wall grouping and thought it would look better framed. I love it!! I bought the frame at Michael’s 50% off and removed the matt and glass. I found the “chalk ar” canvas at Home Goods. Now I just need to finish the wall so I can show it all to you. 😉
Vintage Dresser
I bought this little dresser from a friend at work. I just love the look of it, the wood, the handles and the details. I got it home and polished it up. I decided to line the drawers with something a little different. I used scrapbook paper & some Modge Podge! I already had this Antique Modge Podge so I used this one, not sure if it made much of a difference than the regular Modge Podge, but it’s suppose to leave it a little browner/yellower than the regular – if it did it’s just a tad. My recommendation would be if you’d like to try this in a drawer or a shelf, use printed cardstock instead of paper. It’s a little thicker and works a little better. Just use a sponge brush and paint the Modge Podge onto your surface. Lay down your paper and smooth, then top coat again and then again with the Modge Podge. It will bubble up less with the cardstock but will eventually lay down. Love it!
Good Laugh . . . Happy Friday!
The Dynamic Duo at it AGAIN!
Tara (my daughter-in-law) asked Jason to make her a chevron wood coffee table. Belle kept bonking her head on their other table. So here you go!! He made it out of fence pickets and table legs he bought at Home Depot. Tara stained the pickets with different colors and then they put a clear coat on top. So awesome!! Great job you guys!! xoxo
The Best . . . eos!
eos – I picked up one of these a few months ago and this one is my 3rd – one for my purse, one for home and one for work! Living in Colorado lip balm/chapstick is a must! This stuff is the absolute best!! It’s smooth, moisturizing & great flavors . . . 100% natural, 95% organic, contains shea butter and jojoba oil. Give it a try – you won’t be sorry 😉
