Two Friendly Reminders

Standard

One more week to get me your “coffee bar” pic!!  Please send to: cottagecharms@msn.com & don’t forget to turn your clocks FORWARD Saturday night!!  I hate this time change – loosing sleep & having to get up in the dark!  But I do love having more sunshine when I get off work.  Have a great weekend & enjoy this wonderful weather we’re having!! 😉

Pumpkin Patch Prep

Standard

Pumpkin Patch Prep – say that three times, lol.  This is the east side of my barn that gets a decent amount of sunshine during the day (I took this pic early this morning).  My plan is this 12′ x 30′ plus area will be my future “Pumpkin Patch”.  I’m determined this year to get them planted.  I actually just bought some “seed feed” at Walmart so I’ll be starting the process here pretty soon.  Jason is going to help me pick up the lumber (hopefully this weekend) to get started on my picket fence.  I was stoked to find this 3.5′ x 8′ section of pickets at Home Depot “ready to go”.  I’m going to cut the fence panel in half and put the entrance in the middle (see my cute sketch, lol) which will leave a good 4′ for my John Deere mower to fit through.  🙂

Pioneer Woman Table & Kitchen Linens

Standard

Looks like I’m going to Walmart at lunch time!  Just out today, Pioneer Woman (Ree Drumond) has released her new line of table & kitchen linens at Walmart & Walmart.com.  Tablecloths, napkins, placemats, chair cushions, rugs, aprons, kitchen towels – yahooooo!  As you may know, my kids did such a great job of getting me some of her kitchen line for my birthday and I love it all.  Well made & so cute!!!  This stuff will be the icing on the cake!  😉

I was out at Jason & Tara’s last Friday and got a few pics of the family and their place.  I need to get pics of their property but it was getting too dark.  They have 12 acres, have a large barn and loafing shed ANDDD they grow they’re own hay.  They named their property “Run-a-muck Ranch”, lol.   Jason just added the goat’s playground last week.  He put up the fencing between the barn and the loafing shed, added those spools and built that cool bridge!  I love going out there to see what’s new cause they’re always something! LOL

I found these cute little boots for Belley Girl and had to buy them!!  She is such a cutie & loves her new boots!  The fence she’s hanging on in the last pic is the fence Jason built in the loafing shed for the goats (actually for the ducks that are coming, but the goats came first).  I love the metal and wood together – great job Jason!

Strawberries Coming Soon!

Standard

My neighbor across the street from me is a big gardener.  They’re the ones that have the chickens I babysat last summer.  She was cleaning up her strawberry patch & called  me to see if I wanted some of her plants.  I said heck yeah but I wasn’t ready.  I don’t have any of my garden beds built yet.  She said no problem and brought me over her wheelbarrow full of dirt, a bed to borrow & about 60 plants!!  I ran to Home Depot Sunday to get a few bags of topsoil and got them all planted.  For now, I just put the bed in the middle of my future garden area.  Eventually, I want to take the top 1/2 of the metal off this area (about 4′ high) all around the garden and put up lattice to let more sunshine in.  This area right next to the barn is where the past owners kept their dog.  I’ll put my garden beds here, add some crushed gravel, a walkway and a gate.  I added an outdoor light and concrete pad last year right off the door to the barn that goes into my “garden room”.  That’s my “outside” goal anyway for this spring/summer, to get the garden area up and running.  I’m so exited to have strawberry plants – hopefully I’ll have enough to make some homemade strawberry jam!! 😉

Dale & Brennan!  Jason & Tara have added to their little family.  Dale & Brennan are almost 3 months old and are dwarf male goats.  They’ll be some weed-eating machines for sure.  Belle loves feeding them animal crackers.  Jason built that little hay feeder that they decided to use as a bed.  So cute!

Happy 27th Birthday!

Standard

My daughter was up from the “Springs” this weekend.  We had a great dinner with family (forgot to get those pics!!) Celebrated her best friend’s daughter’s 1st Birthday and got some shopping in!  Love you Amie xoxo
