Seriously!! This Girl!!

Standard

So I’m going through the stuff I took out of my “catch-all” room (now my studio) and came across this cute little owl.  I sent this pic to Tara and asked her if she wanted it – she loves owls.  She said “definitely, I’ll think I’ll paint it”.

Seriously??!!!!  This girl is too much!!!!! She painted that owl and it does NOT even look the same!  Tara, your painting skills are off the charts!

Love!

DIY Picture Rails are UP!

Standard

When you don’t have an extra pair of hands you make do with what you got! LOL  I marked the wall where the studs were (kinda 16″ apart) and then predrilled the holes in my wall-board.

I added the trim after the shelf was up.  Used a bead of wood glue again and then used my brad nailer (nail gun with 5/8″ nails/brads).

I just put up some pictures I had but will add black frames with photos I’ve taken.  The two canvases are pics I’ve done.

Love them! They serve a purpose and look great!  Super easy to do!

DIY Picture Rails

Standard

I decided I wanted to put up a couple of picture rails in the studio over that big cabinet.  I went to Lowe’s and bought 2 preprimed – 1×3’s that were 12′ long and had them cut into 5′ lengths (gave me 4 – 5′ with a couple of 2′ left overs).  I clamped two of them together and pre-drilled some holes.

Then I took them apart and applied a bead of wood glue along the length of the shelf board.

Re-clamped and used some drywall screws ( 1 1/4″) to attach the shelf board to the back board and let them dry.  Did the same thing to the other 2 5′ boards.

I had some 8′ trim pieces in the barn.  I’ll use these for the front of the shelf board so my picture frames don’t fall off.  I cut the trim pieces to 5′ and painted everything – Behr Semi-gloss Bright White. Then waited for everything to dry . . . . .
