Room Re-Do . . .

Standard

Room TrinketsWell I’m a bit closer to starting my room re-do.  I have collected some new trinkets and picked my color scheme.  I decided to go a little more feminine in my “Country Chic Room” . . . my bedroom furniture is pine and the new color scheme is white & gray with silver & a bit of pink accents. The 2 paint chips in the pic above are my colors “Cathedral Gray” & “Pewter Ring”.  Pewter Ring is the darker of the two and I’m considering doing an accent wall with it & using it to paint the inside of my closets . . . hmmmm.  The colors are Behr paint and Behr is always my 1st choice in paint.  Our weather is crazy gorgeous right now soooooo maybe I’ll paint this weekend.  Just don’t hold me to it . . . if I actually go buy the paint that will be one step closer!!!

Good Read . . .

Standard

black heelsI’ve been following Ree Drummond now for about a year  (not literally – LOL).  She is better known as “The Pioneer Woman”.  She has a blog and a cooking show on the Food Network (called the same).  She lives on a ranch in Northwest Oklahoma and is just a hoot.  I have one of her cookbooks and recently found out that she wrote this book “Black Heels to Tractor Wheels” so I downloaded it onto my Ipad.  Haven’t finished it yet but am enjoying every chapter.   If you’re looking for a fun, easy, no-brainer read . .  Ree is hilarious and begins the book about how she met her “Marlboro Man”.  She brings a great sense of humor to her stories and life experiences. Love her! Great book!

Chris Young

Standard

Chris-YoungIf you are not a fan of Country Music, you won’t know who this is but if you do know him you know his deep sultry country voice.  I had the opportunity to see Chris Young this weekend. Great concert – he played for 1 1/2 hours. He sang all his hits and we all went crazy. He’s just adorable and his “Neon” CD is a good one to have!

Canvas & Cocktails

My daughter had her 24th birthday last week so for something different I took her to “Canvas & Cocktails”.  They have a location downtown in Cherry Creek. I signed us up for “Sangria Sunday”.  It’s a “how to” paint on canvas class.  The instructor goes through the painting step-by-step.  It was so much fun and because it was “Sangria Sunday” they give you a little glass of Sangria, but seriously there is NO time for drinking.  The class was full (at least 50) and there was a range of ages, a 10 year old (sitting by us) who was celebrating straight A’s, a woman in her 70’s celebrating her birthday and a group of girls that included the “bride to be”, even a few husbands that I’m sure were dragged there but they did a great job. You pay $35 for the class and you come home with a one of a kind painting because everyone’s is a bit different. Some people painted different background colors, some of their sunflowers were bigger some smaller, it’s all about tapping into your inner child and the freedom to use your imagination if you want to . . . Amie & I are a bit more “by the book” people, we prefer to color inside the lines (LOL).  We wanted ours to look exactly like the sample (the one behind us on the wall).  Maybe we’ll step “out of the box” a bit next time . . . or not! LOL

Snowwwwwww . . .

It was a weekend marathon of “Bones” (love Booth & Brennan), blankets & hot chocolate.  The snow came in (again) Saturday afternoon and dumped about 10″ then another 2″ during the day yesterday.  Wind was blowing all weekend so in some areas it was a little deeper.  I don’t mind the shoveling because it’s good exercise and  it doesn’t really happen that often, but I was dreading 10″ or more of wet heavy snow.  I was about 10 minutes into it when my neighbor across the street came home and hollered over at me “hey girl, let me get that for you with my snow blower”! Dang! I didn’t know he had a snow blower – hallelujah . .  hallelujah, hallelujah!!!!!! It probably took him 15 min. to do my whole driveway and sidewalk!! What a champ!! Thanks Leroy!

Cute Little Critters

Standard

Prairie-DogWhen the kids & I moved here to Colorado 18 years ago I was just enamored with these little critters.  Growing up in California (the bay area) I had never seen a “Prairie Dog” but here in Colorado they are everywhere.  The kids and I were always calling out “there’s a prairie dog”! Every open space or empty field is crawling with these little guys (open space = any piece of property without a building).  They pop out of their little piles of dirt to say hello (I’m sure they’re just looking for bugs)!  They are so cute – they remind me of sea otters with their little paws.  I realize they are probably disease infected carriers of possibly the plague but I can’t help but adore them. I drove by an open space the other day and I STILL thought to myself  “ahhh look, there’s a prairie dog”!
