Peonies

Standard

I had purchased about 5 new peony plants and they needed a little support. It’s been crazy windy around here. I had some tomato cages in the barn and had no plans for planting a garden. They were too tall but thought they would work if they were shorter. So, I grabbed my grinder and took off the bottom spokes that “ground” the cage. Still too tall, so I took off the bottom ring.

I just happened to have a can of green spray paint in my stash, because the yellow & red cages were not going to work!

Also gave these little guys a fresh coat of paint.

While the paint was drying I put out some new bark. I actually saw this suggestion on FB, just open the bark bag and use the plastic bag as weed prevention! I Can’t even tell you how MANY plastic bark bags I’ve thrown away!

These guys are ALWAYS falling over when it’s windy and I needed some kind of stake to hold them down. I remembered I had those cage stakes I cut off, so stuck those in their legs and they worked!

Love how it turned out! My peony plant was quite a surprise though! It was supposed to be a YELLOW peony but when it bloomed, the pic below is what I found! Still gorgeous!
